Looks very good - but what's it worth?
Spotted this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Rover-75-...item45f5d893be Seriously thinking about buying it - 2.5 V6 Connoisseur SE. Recent cambelts, looks very clean and tidy (only two minor faults mentioned), 75,000 miles. Clean engine bay is usually a good sign of a car that's been looked after. Starting bid is £1,500, not sure what the reserve is. I would need to view it first though, and it's quite a long way away from me. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should be paying for this? I would be extremely grateful for anybody's opinions on this. Regards, Colin. |

No Mileage given??
4 prev owners.... 2.5 v6 engine = heavy on fuel.... Manual gearbox. Luxury cars need to be auto really.. Assuming it's ave milage, I wouldn't want to pay the £1.500 never mind the reserve price.. ... |

it has done 75489 milesas for the price of a well kept 75 i would think 1950.00 would be a fair price for it ......

Er, it's 75,000 miles, as per the answer at the bottom of the listing and my post above. It should have been put in the main part of the listing but maybe it's absence will put other people off!
I'm looking for a manual, auto's are easier to find but I don't want one - I can't be without a gearstick! I don't like diesels...... and want a V6. 4 owners is not so good but it does look quite clean and tidy, bar the two bits mentioned. |

Looks like a nice car, agree with Chrissyboy on price espeically if the belts have been done, ask to see an invoice for this.
Apart from all the usual checks when looking at a car also check coolant level cold, if you can not see anything in the expansion tank it is low on water and could possibly have a leak probably thermostat housing. Get the car up to operating temp and check the oil cap and dipstick for water in the oil although Head Gasket problems are rare on the V6 (I went to see a perfect car not long ago but was full of mayo! shows early signs of HGF) Press demist on air con controls and check the engines cooling fan is running at the front of the car, the petrol models need the fan when stuck in traffic. I would offer 1700 for it just incase it needs anything for it's up coming MOT. Good luck! John |

Thanks for the advice John - I think a viewing is in order.
I was worried abotu the MoT running out although the seller doesn't think that it should fail. However, I many people have had surprises at MoT time, however good a car might feel to it's owner! |

For some reason this has all the markings of 'Buyer Beware'! Anyone selling a car with a month to run on the MOT has something to hide! maybe he has already tried for that MOT and it has failed on emissions! I would definitely insist on a new MOT, or walk away!

OK, a years MoT is essential - if it passes with no problems then I'd be happy to add the cost of it to the price. If it flags up problems, then suitable bargaining points are there, or if really bad then I'll have to leave it.
Problem is, the auction ends Saturday morning (early!) and my current car has chosen an inappropriate time to try to dispense with an inner CV joint! It might be fixed by then, or might not...... |
