In the MG Rover brochure 6076 of 2003 it states that "Front fog lights are not available on the 1.8T Automatic models".

As for the oil cooler radiator not being in the way..

The same thing happened when the diesel auto was introduced in 2001.
The front fog lamps were not fitted due to pipework being in the way. In 2002 the pipework was moved but a small number of diesel autos left Longbridge with the pipework moved but still no foglamps fitted..

Retro fitted fog-lamps to mine with no problems. Even the loom connections were in place. Just needed to get the LMS to suit

The above are just the Connoisseur SE, there are many more Club SE also without front fogs.

The big clue Guys is whether your front wheel arch has a fluted vent just below the headlamp hatch.

LH on Early Diesel Auto
RH on Early 1.8 Autos

If no vents, then your Auto Car is fitted with the later type cooler which is no where near the front bumper.
The later design cooler is rearward of the main radiator (seen in lower front of engine bay and relies on Main Radiator cooling fan instead of it's own)

Are people saying that they have successfully fitted fog lamps to Cars with early styled coolers with no fowling, as i didn't think this was possible.

But can I point out a couple of corrections.

From Jan '05 All Connoisseur models got leather seats as standard. They also got twin illuminated vanity mirrors as well. I'm not sure whether they got ITS (side pillar airbags) as standard or if this was still an option. However my car does have ITS but doesn't have any other items from the Connoisseur pack. As you say the ITS could have been a custom option. But I know the leather and vanity mirrors (and driver's grab handle) were all re-introduced as standard fit.
My car is a May 2006 registered Con Tourer. It does not have leather, drivers grab handles or parking sensors.
It has Smartnav and the Blaupunkt CD /Radio. No multichanger.
Maybe these items were subject to the "build your own" option by the buyers?
