black trim cleaner/polisher
Can any knowledgeable member recommend a good cleaner for the black trim parts on the 75ZT, especially the panel beneath the screen and the external mirror parts which always seem to revert to a Grey haze even if I clean them with auto Glym trim cleaner! , any tips gratefully received!

Not too sure on the parts you mean. For the scuttle panel i use autoglym bumper care, once the scuttle is scrubbed with g101 and dried i apply it with a microfibre. If you mean the parts around the door mirrors i wash them as normal and use autosmart topaz on them. Its a wax/polish/sealent that leaves no white marks.

Yes they are the parts I am referring to, I have been using the Auto Glym trim aerosol, but after around 3 weeks the parts go dull and Grey again, I will try the products that you use and see how I get on. Having owned classic cars from the 50's and 60's give me chrome anyday ,at least all you needed was a tube of Solvol Autosol!

Unfortunatly nothing will 'permanently' blacken them as the sun bleaches the molecular integrity of the plastic, they can be temporarily 'masked' with suggested products but the grey will come back eventually when they wear off, the best thing iv used in the past and seems to last the longest is peanut oil

we had an old Daewoo Lanos which now resides with the father in law (though he no longer drives). The front scuttle had turned from black to light gray, so I took it off, primed it with plastic primer, and gave it a few coats of satin black.
A few years on now, and the car is in a bit of a sorry state, but the front scuttle still looks top notch. Just a thought, dependant upon how much effort you want to go to. Cliff

I just used peanut butter on mine today as an experiment. Happy with the instant result but will be interested to see how long it will last. Worried about badgers being attracted to the car tonight.
