Default CD autoplayer has died .....

My CD autoplayer which lives in the glovebox has just started to announce "No Disc" and not play I have substituted the magazine for a spare , loaded with different discs , powered off and back on again but no avail . When a magazine is loaded it does appear to go through the "CD check" procedure , but then reverts to dead status . It is powered through a Symphony setup and has behaved well for the life of the car so far . Any ideas or suggestions please ?

hi chris, i'm removing mine from the car soon so you're welcome to it if you pay postage or you can collect from POL if you're attending. it's taking up valuable glovebox space and i have a bluetooth unit to go in.

Thanks for the kind offer but I'm happy to stick with this one , even if it eventually needs a bit more TLC

Ok, well when yours eventually breaks, let me know as it'll be sat in my shed.

Glad to see a good thump cured it but if it happens again, note this.

Being stuck in the glove box and subjected to cold at night at this time of year, then suddenly warmed when in an enclosed space, condensation occurs. Condensation is the enemy of laser readers.

To avoid condensation, never close the sliding cover over the cassette slot and leave the glove box door open.

If it happens again, do this for a couple of days, condensation will go and CD player will be back to normal.

I can also attest to the short, sharp shock treatment recommended by Chris. A thump to the right of my CD unit instantly bought it back to its senses.
