Pressurising KV6 190
Hey guys.
Iv just done a deal on a ZT-T but its got some issues with the cooling system. The owner is saying its pressurising and leaking water from the cap. Its just had the belts, waterpump, tensioner etc done. Iv not gone the car yet but was wondering what the likely problem would be. 1: Cap itself 2: Head gaskets 3: Airlock, not being filled correctly. 4: Waterpump. Any help in getting to the bottom of this is appreciated.

If it was fine before the new pump, and its now playing up it'll most probably be an air lock.
The V6 is a pain unless its bled properly. Drain the system including block from bung in the front. Undo bleed screw on hose under/alongside air filter. Unbolt header tank and lift it as high as you can when filling. Just for good measure, turn ign on and set heater to hot so the heater valves open Fill until coolant flows from bleed screw, tighten up then run up to temp as per usual. HTH. |

I had the same problem after a service at my local garage and my car overheated. I did the above procedure and all is well now.

Mark; there aren't any heater valves.

The first thing to check is the expansion tank level. The 'max' mark is quite low down inside the tank. It's possible that the system has been overfilled. To check for overheating, start the engine from cold and press the windscreen demist button to check that the radiator fan is working properly. Activate the instrument pack diagnostics to monitor the actual coolant temperature. It should run in the low to mid nineties. The fan should trigger at 100°. Quote:
