Last time I had my belts changed by Lates600, they looked so good that Lates said he would save them and fit them to his car later. He was joking, obviously, and he binned them, but they did still look as good as new. Mileage on them was around 20k.

That said, I shall still stick to the 6 year period rather than take any chances. At around £550 all in, it's only about 25p per day, so worth it for peace of mind in my view.

Not an easy conversion - chain drives are lubricated by the engine oil, so the lubrication system will have to be modified, as will the chaincases to ensure they are oil tight.
