Headlight Warning Indicator
Replacement H7 on pre facelift Halogens showed warning after a few weeks so bought another new bulb but the warning lights still on. Any ideas or do I need to be reseating every bulb and checking the others?

The warning lights reset themseleve when they can detect a new bulb is fitted
Sounds like you've been unlucky with the bulb(s) or you have another problem First check is that all the lights work

Assuming you have the highline pack telling you it's that headlamp bulb then check for frayed wires in the loom leading to the lamp unit. If it's just a normal bulb out warning then check one or both tail lights haven't failed.

If not then you have a poor connection at the bulb holder. |

No the bulb was working fine. But, on setting 1 it wasnt working so I used a new bulb. New bulb did the same thing. And I checked for chafed wires and cant find any. Not an earthing problem?

best get the voltmeter out and check for voltage at the bulb socket then work back from there.

Nope but I will be soon. Have been testing my Xenons and the corresponding bulbs still doing the same so its not the bulb but a connection somewhere.
I'll double check the wiring again and if I have time even take of the wiring protection I had on. Its a bit like cable routing stuff for inside pc's. Regards, Alan |

So if you check around the wiring and test etc, remove the headlamp unit also to check.

Ok, have done that, taken all of the electrical tape I put on back off. WDE on everything and cleaned up. No breaks or wear in wires back maybe almost a foot until I get to the cable routing where everything from the washer power,
lights and something else that seems to go off towards the front of the engine block meets. So no wear I can see. Do you think now that I've swapped over the light units that maybe disconnecting the battery may solve the problem? I remember when I was removing the airbag for the steering column change that the warning light was off until I used the headlights. |
