Default elm 327 etc

We have accumulated several makes of car in our family , and are considering and elm327/bluetooth system . The search system on here seems to bring up quite a few references, but they dont seem to be recent ones .
Can anyone recommend a system for use with Ios (and where to get it )?
Is the program included in the elm , or is it a seperate entity ?
Advice would be appreciated .

There is a lot of free software that works with the elm obd,but be carefull if you try to change any parameters on the cars without being sure on exactly what you are doing could be very regretable and costly.

I am new to this site and cannot find the place I need to be,

I have a rover 75 CDI 2002 Saloon with 110000 miles on the clock, this is an excellent car and the 3rd one I have had,

But just recently it has started cutting out! i will be driving along and the engine management light comes on them the engine stops, leave it a couple of minutes and it starts again then runs for a day then does the same, can anyone help me please, I have changed the Fuel pump & Filter,
