The sigmas are E mount Phil - Adapter not needed

They sell a 19mm also https://www.parkcameras.com/p/G24224...nt-lens-silver

I mentioned before a 30mm f1.4, it is more expensive but has a wider aperture. It is one lens I want to get in the near future. https://www.parkcameras.com/p/G24232...y-sony-e-mount

The 19mm is good, the 30 mm is really good.

I link to Park Cameras because they have a website that is easy to navigate.

Link to lenses that will fit a a6500 without adapter (4 pages) https://www.parkcameras.com/c/4630/s...=4630&by=5&v=0

Thanks Paul for pointing out that I don't need to buy an adapter. What about the Sigma 150-600mm contemporary, would that fit the A6500? It looks as though it will give the reach for wildlife shots I need, out in the field, but it is expensive. I noticed how Park cameras have made significant price cuts to the A7 series full frame range, some matching the A6500. How tantalising. Sony are rumoured to be launching a new mirrorless camera in June/July and when I asked my friend at Sony about this, he wouldn't let on and even though he makes the sensors, he denied knowing anything about it. Fair enough

The 30mm is indeed high spec.
You have given me lots of reading to catch up on....

The Sigma 150-600 will fit with the correct adapter Phil, they do not make that lens in e mount. I am not sure how well the auto focus will perform with that lens. A bit of googling needed I think.

Last I heard on the grapevine is that the camera coming in June/July is not a camera to interest us here, but maybe a fixed lens model or even a video camera.

The A7 series does indeed start at under £1000 but they are the older models. They are full frame but the auto focus and and fps will be much below the A6500.

In an ideal world I would have the 42mp full frame A7RII and a crop sensor 24mp A6500. The lenses would be interchangeable and the A7RII can even be used in a crop mode at 18mp

The new A9 would be great for wildlife but at £4500 for the body and £2500 for a lens I think a lottery win is needed.

I found this Phil, it is well worth a read as it covers most of the questions regarding long lenses on alpha series cameras. Even has a section on the Sigma 150-600

http://www.learningsurfphotography.c...6300-or-a6500/

He links to this page which has video about the Sigma 150-600 on a Sony A6000

Edit: After reading and watching this seems a good option Phil. I may be tempted later in the year.

Thank you Paul, I will watch the video tomorrow. I saw a photo recently on another photography forum from a chap who posted a photo of the moon using the A6500 and the Sigma 500mm. Whilst the reach was great, the photo was in HDR and over cooked. I didn't have heart to tell the guy, as he was so proud of his work.

My basic lens will be: macro, landscape and wildlife. I am not worried about not being able to have auto focus, not a must have

Great bokeh Paul, thank you for sharing

Since visiting the Sigma 600mm review, I have gone off the lens. The reviewer said that ultimately it did not suit the handling he prefers. A big and heavy lens. I am enticed by his solution at the end with the smaller Sony and times 1.7 converter, although he said the Sigma was slightly sharper, side by side, in comparitive photos there wasn't much in it.

Have you seen the rumours of the A6700? Query to be launched in 2018, but who knows

Indeed Phil, the Sigma is bigger, more expensive and heavier but has a longer focal length. The Sony 55-210 is not bad, it is just not as sharp as some others.

Sometimes if I am unsure of a lens I search on Flickr to look at shots taken with the lens in question. Here is a search for the Sony 55-210
https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=sony%2055-210

I have not heard anything about an A6700 but knowing Sony another camera is always just around the corner. I wonder what they will add. Maybe electronic silent shutter with no blackout and fantastic auto focus although the A6500 is pretty good. I would like a new body with a few more dials more like the Fuji xt-2.

The Fuji is a nice looking camera with a better traditional appearance. Sony are doing well and are currently no 2 in the USA, second to Canon. Sony's latest results showed 27 billion US dollars in profit. I think they could afford to drop their prices. Having said that, the price of the
A6500 will continue to fall during the year. My friend at Sony told us over dinner that he earns £3000 per hour. He was rather chuffed with himself for saying it, but I did have to tell him that I thought he was being paid far too much money, when the nurses in the NHS, who work just as hard, earn just a pittance and will only get a 1% pay rise this year. I said it in a nice way.

Back to photography I sometimes visit the Sony Alpha Forum as there are different sections for the native and adaptive lenses for the cameras with sample images.

I will check out the link to Flickr Paul, thank you for helping

I also found this review recently. It is quite long but very good.
