BUT if it does need topping up the fluid has gone somewhere!and if you cant see a leak in the master cylinder then it could be the slave cylinder which means a gear box out job, and while its out you may as well have a new clutch put in!

well when you get your car back and say to the garage who has done the insurance work that your clutch wasnt like that when it went in,dig your heels in say you want it rectified, keep to your guns and perhaps after a couple of days with any joy ,if they refuse see if you can perhaps ask them to put towards the cost, because they cant prove otherwise if the accident did or didnt cause the damage,go to the ombudsman if all else fails, good luck

There really isn't much capacity in the unmodified master cylinder, so even with no leaks at all, after a few years of use I would not be surprised at one needing to be topped up.

Basically it gave it a little judder and a squeal and the pedal stuck to the floor. Pumped it vigourously for 5 mins and got another 3 miles out of it before it became permanent. Taxi home to phone recovery.

Hi Anna,
Looks like you are in the same boat as I was a year or so + ago... You know where I am coming from, and we've both had had our trials But I still love the car!! Once she's fixed, hopefully she will remain fixed. Good luck
