My cars been hit, again...
What can I say?
I park in what should be the safest parking space in the airport right outside the front door to the office in the middle of a row of cars that has no through traffic. I happened to be looking out of the window of my first floor office and noticed a van reverse straight into the front of my car. The car was pushed back about 12" until the towbar on my car met the fence and stopped the car moviong so the bumper took all the pressure of the van. He then drove off. The office security chased down the street but couldn't catch them however he did make note of the reg and company details. At least this time I have a load of whitnesses with the smokers and office security watching it all happen. I've spoken to the company that owned the van and they have informed the insurance company and offered to get it fixed so it's not all bad. Not a great deal of damage but the bumper is kinked and scratched. The crashbar is ok and nothing under it looks damaged at all. Oh! and the office fence is broken. I was going to get a respray of the bumper anyhow so at least someone else will be paying now.

Unbelievable, I drive vans for a living, and sure as hell know if I hit anything!! still, as you say, at least your bumper re-spray is being funded now, so every cloud and all that!!

Steven - Probably a good idea to pop into your local nick and report as a fail to stop accident. This will strengthen your case and if the company pay out directly might speed things up. You'll be given a form to fill in but it's fairly straight forward.

To be honest it didn't do me any good last time when I was hit. I had a passenger with me that noted the drivers description, car reg etc and the police didn't do a thing even though he didn't stop. Also as my passenger was not independant (A friend) the insurance company would not pay out either. Sucks. At least this time the company that owns the van has contatced me and have stated they were at fault and will pay for the repair and then sort out if they want to claim from the insurance or not.

It is so annoying and not considerate let alone the inconvenience when that happens. A similar thing happened years ago when a refuse truck reversed into the rear of my TF and sliced through the back and engine. Thousands of pounds damage and then it drove off. The police tracked it down after a witness took the number and left the details on my windscreen. I was at work. It was settled. My insurance handled everything. So time consuming. Sorry you have had to go through this again Steve.

Hi Crissyboy. It's an auto but it seems fine. I never thought about how it may affect the autobox.. It was pushed back about 12-14". The front wheels were locked at the time so the box must have remained in park.. I think it's come off OK in reality..
