I once cleared an entire house in 6 runs in that SD1, 20 years ago! The capacity for drink is probably massive. It's self levelling suspension even keeps it looking unladen.

Anyway, back to topic... Cheers! More drink please!

Thanks for your kind comments and merriment so far; I would still appreciate a serious answer about load chaps please!

Best wishes,

Mike.

Still chuckling But.... I would think a dog guard would help matters, stop the load shifting too much. What would the volume of one case be. See how many cases you could get in the back (with back seats folded), then work out how many -loose- bottles you could safely store around the cases. When I came back from UK to Sweden after 6 months in 2005 I´d worked out just how much and the best way of getting all my stuff into the Volvo 480 I had You´d be supprised, even 2 wheel -spats- for my Willerby Vogue caravan (vintage 1956)

The weights and mesurements for the car can be had through the instruction books and brochyrs

I used to use my Tdci tourer to bring wine and spirits back from Italy. To give you some idea, with driver, passenger, and two weeks holiday luggage, with the rear seats folded down, we could get in:

6 x 6 bottle cartons of gin
6 x 6 bottle cartons of vodka
at least 15 x 6 bottle cartons of wine

plus various other bottles stowed wherever.

Car would do almost 36 mpg even with that load on and at Italian Autostrada speeds.

Handled like a bit of a pig though on the fast bends.

Just make sure you load the biggest part of your haul within the wheelbase ie over the folded rear passenger seat. try not to have too many cartons hanging out beyond the back wheels.

I went to Spain and Andorra last year on my motorbike. We spent two nights in Andorra, and as a group worked out that for our time in Andorra we consumed considerably more alcohol then we did petrol, which was good fun.

With regards the original thread, get a van for the day. You could probably even blag that you worked in 'the trade' that way.

I think this should be a photo that makes the 2011 calander surely?

MG/Rover - Sponsored by Stella. Etc.

Would actually be a good and funny one also IMO.

Anyone else like the idea?
