Default They're not fixing clutch!!!!

Insurance company say clutch problem is unrelated and they're not fixing it. I don't know what to do now. The garage have 'offered' (as they would) to look at it, at my cost of course. However they could have swung it for me really couldn't they??? So do I have it delivered to a garage local to me and meet them there with the punto? How long is it likely to take to fix the clutch (the time I'll be without a car). It's not the actual clutch, it's a hydraulic release thingy.........

Help!!!!!!

Hi Anna,

Not the result we were after!

I would ask the garage it is in for a quote at least, as long as they can provide an estimate without it costing you anything.

Otherwise it sounds like either the slave or master cylinder has failed and will need replaced (had mine done about 25,000 miles ago, remember the Ka?). Get a quote from Duke St by phone.

If the repairing garages quote is similar to Duke St Rover then leave it with them as that will save a lot of hassle. Problem is how long they let you keep the Punto without charging for it?

Duke st have quoted £750 for master, slave and new clutch assembly. He said he doesn't even havve to see the car, just from my description he knows exactly what's wrong!!!! Said he'd also give it a cheap service while it's in. I've asked the garage it's in atm for a QUOTE SO WE'LL see what they come back with.

Duke st said to get clutch done at same time or I'd be another £500 in a year or 2 years time.

Ahem!

Think it was £957 from an XPart place. So £750 is a good price.

2008 actually! Just a couple of months after spending a small fortune on the belts.

I was also recommended by the guys on here to change the clutch at the same time as it saves costs. Unfortunately as my slave & master were being done under warranty that was not an option.

Problem is you need to do the repair even if just to sell the car.......

May as well keep Honey once fixed then?

It may not necessarily be the slave cylinder. It could be the master, or it could simply be low on fluid and need topping up/bleeding. I would be inclined to do that first, before assuming the worst.
