Default Sunblind retrofit no wiring loom

Hi folks me again,

Yesterday I managed to get a parcel shelf complete with the rear sunblind,
I took the two wires (orange with black stripe and orange with brown stripe) from the sun Lind motor right up to where the connector would have been to plug into the button). However the connector had been cut off.

However I now realise I need more of the wiring for the sunblind to work.

Having had a quick look at the wife's car (the one I intend to put the sunblind in) doesn't have any additional wiring behind the central console, being a classic SE it's devoid of any additional wiring. So at this point what's involved in making up a loom for this to power up?

Thanks
Rob

2 wires from front to back. Power, ground and illumination at the switch end. If you run the wires front to back the rest is less than 5 mins work.

Thanks Jamiewelch,

I have the two wires front to back, so the other three..

Ground from switch to an earth point

Dc12v from fuse 2 10amp I'm guessing?

Illumination from lcm somewhere?

I've read that the green wire with red stripe goe to fuse 2

That leaves me with just two wires left I'll just need to know what colour wire goes where.

Thanks
Rob

You can pick up the illumination from another switch, that will save you running from the LSM.

Thanks Trikey for confirming. I think I will do this just to keep things as simple as possible.

I take it, illumination is the red wire.wirh white tracer?

Thanks

The earthing point is C0551 in the passenger footwell up against the inner wing.

Yes. That fuse feeds header C0296 pin 6 on a light green/red wire (LGR) which you may not have (the header supplies the sunblind, the automatic gearbox interlock solenoid, parking sensors ECU and rain sensor).

That's correct.

Sunblind switch connector C0944
Pin 1 = LGR: +12v supply from fuse 2 via header C0296.
Pin 2 = RW: +12v switch illumination from header C0290-7.
Pin 3 = B: earth C0551-6.
Pin 4 = OB: motor pin 1
Pin 5 = B: earth, switch illumination to earthing point C0551-6.
Pin 6 = ON (orange/brown): motor pin 3

Good luck!

Simon

Thanks for the info Simon

In terms of light green wire going to fuse slot 2, if what I'm thinking is correct, this light green wire feeds in from the engine bay to the interior fuse box, if so and is usually only in place for things you have mentioned like the rain sensor and such which being a classic se it won't have it.

If above is correct, I'm wondering how much hassle it would be to run the wire from the engine bay fuse box to the interior fuse box to power fuse slot 2.

Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,

The sunblind supply originates from fuselink 12 in the under bonnet fusebox on C0575-12 NS (brown/slate). This goes to the ignition switch auxiliary position. From there an LG (light green) wire supplies fuse 2 in the passenger footwell.

Well finally got round to fitting the sunblind.

Made a loom from scratch, not an issue however what confused us for a few minutes and lead to us consulting the rave discs,

My wife's classic se is a 2003 and has the mini blade fuse box. So when looking on rave at the 2003 wiring circuit diagram it shows fuse 8 for the sunblind at 5amp.

Earlier cars with the standard larger fuses, shows fuse 2 for the sunblind with a 10 amp fuse.

Weirdly the wife's car as mentioned above, has the later mini blade fuse box but appears to be wired up like an earlier car. Confirmed by fuse 8 being taken up with something else.

So.. sunblind wired into fuse 2 with a 10amp fuse and tested and all working. The header C0296 was also present in the fusebox too
Appears all the headers are in the box.

Next thing, putting looms in for the front electric seats. Thanks
Rob
