When you check the V for stat leaks you are not looking for water just orange stains, look carefully the water evaporates very quickly due to engine heat. Dave

Possibly a worn 'O' ring on the elbow on the top left of the radiator if you look from the front.

Thanks guys, I checked the oil filler cap after a run to Birmingham and back and the mayo has gone,cap is bone dry, no sign of anything except oil on the dip stick.
Water level hasn't moved. The V has no sign of any coolant leak or stains so I will change the O rings on the header cap and hopefully thats that. I think I panicked when I saw the mayo on the cap and thought the worst, but it would appear these engines dont like short journeys in terms of condensation. |

Anyone out there know how long it actually takes to get an engine properly warmed up to working temperature?
I remember reading somewhere, years ago, that it was something like 20 miles

Somewhere, don't ask me where though, I was told/read that it takes about 8 minutes at constant motorway speed for the Oil to reach it's mean temperature.... Or something like that.
