Default fascia panel

Not sure if this has been discussed before, did a search and nothing came up.

Can the fascia plate of the double dins be removed and refitted.........in one piece! Only i am in the process of painting the dash etc and want to paint the d/d surround, before i do, is it possible Dont want to pull the unit out if not possible.
Thanks.Steve.

Well.... I guess you can: click

Sean or Jeff can probably tell you how to get the fascia off. Haven't tried that myself

I would imagine if the fascia can be removed you would have to take the head unit out first to remove it.

That link is for Simon from Bulgaria and the trim he produces for the interior. I've actually got one on the unit now, but seeing what some of the guys on here have done with there dash, i fancied having a go. Have a spare dash in the shed that i am painting up.

Steve.

Not sure about the newer ones but mine is the original WinCe 5 unit and I had the front off mine this morning.2 screws on the side and two on the bottom, pull off both knobs and slowly pull the front away from the main unit.It is connected by a straight multi pin similar to this with the corresponding socket on the main unit.

and a ribbon cable which can be released from the connector on the facia to completely remove the front.

The new androids, both the Navall 1 and 2 don't use the edge connector any more.
They are connected to the main unit via a ribbon cable.
Once this is off then all of the internal pcb boards have to be removed plus the screen and touch membrane.
It's not a difficult job but you have to be careful and take your time.
The one thing I would say is that you would be voiding your warranty if you do undertake this so it would be at your own risk

If you let us know which double din it it I will talk you through it further.

Jeff, it is the navall 1 unit.

Sounds a bit too risky now

Steve.
