Default CD413x to Symphony-from bad to worse

Good morning all. Some of you will be aware of the problems I had over the week-end in installing a Symphony head unit in place of the CD413x in our 06 reg ZT. It was eventually concluded theat the Symphony head unit was not compatible with the changer in the car and it was left that I would have to find a compatible changer. Nonetheless the radio and tape functions appeared to work fine so I did leave the Symphony in place. That was of course with the car on the drive.

This morning I've actually used the car for the first time since Sunday and find that the radio only works while the car is stationary-not a lot of use. As soon as the car moves off the display changes to "phone Mute" (there is no phone connected) and radio speech/music is clipped. Not only that but all the Symphony controls are inoperative and to turn the radio off I have to stop the car and turn the ignition off.

Is all this due to changer incompatibility?

I'm getting really ****** off with this!

I'm sure this has been covered before.
Try sifting through the ICE section or Google your symptoms

Remove any cable from pin 1 of the power ISO plug, the Symphony uses that for the phone mute, I think it may be the K-Bus for the CD413X.

Not K bus on the 413x, but yes it should be cut.

Right. I've done that and I've now got music on the move as well as stationary. Great! Next question:
The connector from the existing changer in the ZT is a circular one. The connector in the Z-TT is a block. Do all the Symphony compatible changers have the block type connector, and if so how do I connect the changer block to the car circular type? Is there an adator I can buy? That's too simple to expect I suppose.

Hi Keith.

I am afraid your changer is not compatable with the Symphony head unit without an interface unit.
You could buy an interface unit from "Incartec Ltd".

Hello Dave. Yes I now know the Symphony and the CHM 604 MP3 aren't on speaking terms and I've tried to contact Incartec but they're on holiday for 2 weeks. What's an interface unit and how much does it cost. From replies (yours included) to my earlier post it seems I can either get this interface or replace the changer with one which will talk to the Symphony, but if I go for a differnt changer how do I connect the circular connector on the car wiring to the block connector on the older changers? Is that what the interface is for?

When I purchased my CHM604 MP3 changer I ordered it to be compatable with a Alpine Symphony radio.
It was supplied with a long lead that reached the boot, the plug at the changer end was a 8 pin din plug.
The other end was also fitted with a 8 pin din this connected to a small box, the connection to the radio was via a short lead with a blue mini iso plug that connects to the Symphony.
