Could be ,,, Strangely tho' a long while back I bought a Hillman Hunter
( that dates it a bit ! .). from a farmer and the underside was totally flat, as it was caked in many inches of dried Cow poop..
the inside & Outside wasn't much better .

After levering it all off, the underside showed all its original green paint and was completely rust free as was the whole car ?
After some TLC its was spotless. and lasted many years . ..

Its well known in the motor trade that if you go to Scotland the cars are cheaper. The chaps I use for mot work etc deal with loads of traders who drive up north to buy the cars. The weather in Scotland is very wet etc and with the salt on the roads in winter the cars are very rusty underneath and 90 % of the time have rotten discs, brake pipes, abs rings etc etc.
I bought a Peugeot 406 2002 about 5 years ago from Glasgow on ebay and the drive shafts were in a terrible state. For those parts to be like that and not fail an Mot a few years ago is criminal. They didn't go like that in the last 12 months.

Central belt maybe, however the North East has long been sheltered from the effects of this recession with the Oil Industry.

Partly, but it's Oil capital of Europe and lots of folks have money to spend. You dont see many folks going around here in old Rovers. In fact it used to be a backwater, but unfortunately no more as the criminal element have moved in from afar and there are easy pickings to be had in a rural community that are used to headlines in newspapers such as youth breaks window, now more like youth dealing in drugs, robs and beats up old person and then crashes car etc. Woops now getting way of thread.

No towbar has ever been fitted, so no slipway work despite my title for the thread.

Certainly scarey stuff!

Just glad when I did the brakes on Ed that I had a good look round underneath and everything was in surprisingly good nick!
