ABS & Handbrake Warning Light Issue - Robert hall
Not sure if i am putting my query in the right place. I have a rover75 cdi 2006. The ABS light is on and sometimes the handbrake light also. Mechanic changed the ABS pump from a scrap one which i am reasonably sure was ok when it was running a few years ago. These lights are still on and when tested fault no 6, valve relay is displayed. Any help appreciated.

I’ve changed the name of your thread title to reflect the issue you want help with. This should help to bring it to other peoples attention.

Mechanic found fuses ok. Abs and handbrake light come on when i drive a few yards and then stay on. Wheel sensors test ok on his computer . Tests are done while the vehicle is stationery. Some tell me to put in a new abs modulator this time. The mechanic is having another go at it on Saturday.

When changing the ABS Modulator for a new one, there's a procedure you have to go through with T4 (see post #19): https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=63314

ABS problem on Rover75 cdti will check the level before the mechanic gets the car on Sat just in case. I forgot to report that the abs and brake light lights were extingushed for a few days after the used abs unit was fitted . in recent days the abs light is flashing very fast.

The "handbrake light" actually covers the whole braking system. It is controlled by the ABS ECU and brake fluid level sensor in addition to the handbrake switch. I therefore think it's likely that your problem is linked to the earlier replacement of the ABS modulator.

Many Thanks everybody for your help. I will find out more details when i am with the mechanic in the morning. Can i assume that the t4 is special software for rovers which is not generally available on most garage computers ?. Can i also enquire should each wheel speed sensor be manually checked for voltage despite the the computer test showing them up as working ok?.
