Default potentail new zt 190 + owner shal i shant i???

hi, new here and thuoght this is the best place for advice on buying a zt.
i have just sold my car a seat leon cupra 180 and looking to replace it.
i'm basically looking for alot of car for not much money and a zt 190+ looks like a good bet.
i have a possibilty of a 2005 54 facelift zt 190+ 2.5 v6 50,000 miles had a recent cambelt done for £2400. is this a good deal . how would this compare to the leon cupra im used to, and is the fuel economy really as bad as i'm lead to believe??

Hi Darren

Just down the road from me. Welcome to the club. Personally, I'd say the ZT is a lot of car for the money. However it is obviously a heavier car than the Leon you had. Enjoying the car will cost you fuel, but driving normally it can return 30 + mpg, which I don't think is too bad.

There are a few things to look out for. The VIS ( variable inlet system ) can be faulty , and a dry plenum is very important.

Plenty of help here. If I can help just shout.

Love my ZT-T

Ben

The 180 Cupra is the 20V lump right?

You'll find the ZT a completely different car to drive, it's more of a sports-cruiser in comparison to your hot hatch. The V6 Soundtrack is lovely however and very very smooth

£2400 for a 190 is a good price at that age and mileage, do you know what it has spec wise?

They are a brilliant motor and you won't be dissapointed!

ive got a check sheet in my signature which i recommend you read and print a copy. as for differences, zt is heavier, and probably wont be as good handling wise, but youd be suprosed how good the zt chassis is. probably wont be as quick either but its more practical.

as said, the engines arennt that bad on fuel, but are very reliable and sounf fantastic. no problems with reliability. £2400 sounds pretty cheap, so its either going to be a bargain, or theres an underlying problem

You still have to check them, although on my 54 plate they were as dry as a bone!

Jules, a member on here has created some superb guards that stop stuff getting into your plenums, there's also a spyhole mod for easy checking that you can do.

Best,

Jake

The only true way is to get it tested, there are no indications anywhere in the car. It makes the car quicker although mine was faulty and even after having it repaired I didn't really notice much difference. Some of the members have a Vis Tester unit.

If you test drive it, should feel it pull more around 3000rpm
