Default CDTi Strange noise when turbo kicks in

Hi guys,

Having a problem with the car,

Pulled out onto a main road earlier and accelerated hard, now the car is making a very loud whooshing sound as the turbo spools up from about 2k rpm

It sounds like an air discharge of some sort. The noise goes away if you let off the throttle and also it doesn't do it if you rev it up at standstill.

Also in reverse it is very sluggish and makes the same noise.

Ive checked all the intercooler hoses and what I can feel of the turbo hoses and I can't see anything untoward.

Performance wise it feels about the same, all the gear changes are as normal and there are no warning lights on the dash

Can you suggest anything I can check?

Thanks

Matt
