...."I did say factory set up ...."
If the proposed installation of xenon headlamp units is NOT a straight swap, please can you explain why not and if not, what else would I need to consider. My car doesn't have any frills like headlamp washers or self levelling devices, but I can alter the beam height from inside the car using the knurled thumb control adjacent to the dashboard light intensity control. Is this what you refer to as a 'factory set up'?
If I go ahead with this idea, I'm still at a loss as to how much it's going to cost due to the huge price differences I've seen posted here (£300 to £1,000) ... I assume that would be for the two units? I know a friendly mechanic who charges £45/hour; any idea how long the fitment would be (not too long if it's a straight swap job, eh?) More help please anyone? |

They do come up on ebay for £250-£300 each occasionally. If you want the factory set up, you need to add powerwash, (search on Rastlins thread to see whats involved) and the self levelling vset up which AFAIK, no one has done. As an optional extra, it was about £1200 factory fit only, and was never a dealer fit option HTH

The suspension arm replacement shouldn't be a problem either. I suspect the REAL concern would be, as you say David, setting up the function via BCU and LSM. I can't remember off hand if I saw any mention of the Xenon setup in the T4 pages. Might be worth asking Keith if he wouldn't mind having a look. Does anybody know if the xenon will accept the manual level adjustment from the driver's thumbwheel? Last edited by Raistlin; 20th February 2008 at 09:36.. |

To go for the full factory conversion, you need
New Xenon hadlamp units New washer bottle and plumbing for the haedlamp washers Auto leveling sensors on front and rear axles and associated wiring looms etc New light switch module that takes away the leveling adjustment wheel and so on. We tried running xenons on the maual adjuster and it didn't work without some serious messing about with the electronics by our electrical bods! Not a straight swap! Nic

A set of OEM xenons sold for £390 on ebay last week and the same person bought a pair of power fold mirrors for £260.
I have gone for the cheap option of a pair of Osram night breaker bulbs. They give 90% more light than standard and a 10% whiter light. It says that on the packet so it must be true!! I will post some before and after pictures as soon as I have fitted them. E. Last edited by capese21; 20th February 2008 at 18:21.. Reason: spelling |

That sounds interesting as I'm looking at going down the Xenon route in the future

Well - at the moment, my aftermarket HID setup will have to stay...UNTIL I can get a set of OEM Xenons for a reasonable price.
Then I'm quite ready to have VeeKay be a test-bed. Last edited by Raistlin; 20th February 2008 at 12:26.. |

Had a good look at the RAVE circuit diagram.
Seems as though the Sensors feed direct to LSM - no sign of the BCU being involved. |
