That's a nice tip with the wiring cover, I never even thought of trimming it down. Mine is the same and installed in the same place.

Here's an example of the quality of these units, but remember that youtube does degrade the quality a little.

This is the parts that I used, but there is more than one way to skin a cat.

The power adapter here

The Piggyback for the fuse here

The RCA lead to connect to my DD unit here

Due to the lip on the A118 camera. with the RCA lead it it necessary to trim a slight flat in the edge of the 3.5mm jack, so it pushes home okay.

I have a late Cowley car and I plugged the tap into fuse No.12 which is the aux. for the torch etc.
It might be different on your version, but it switches on and off with the ignition on my car, and I am happy with that.

The cables hide behind the headlining and the A pillar trim with no problem, there is plenty of room.
The Wince unit will display under the cycle "AUX" and this is where you plug the lead in:

Hi Bob,

Was it straight plug & play with that power adapter? Were the leads long enough to reach from the fusebox to the camera?

Many thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,
As I remember it was long enough, but it depends where you want to locate the power adapter unit.

Some people have located it in the area behind the interior light.
However, I wanted it in the fuse box area and in that case the USB section of wiring isn't long enough.

I had lots of power feed wiring spare, which I cut down, and got a usb 2.0 mini B male to female extension cable.

If you do not want to mess about, you can get adapters with a long usb section , but they seemed to be a lot more money, when I was looking.
