But did the last owner con the trader, or the trader con the buyer?
At least it is sorted now Peter and the new owner can be confident that his warning lights are functional.

thanks all for your help and quick responses, especially thanxs to Klarzy for fixing the problem and pointing out lots of things on the car that can be improved. Just thought I would clarify that some taps had been put over the dashboard airbag light to block it out, I am pretty sure this was not the last owner as before buying the car I went and found and met the owner and asked him if he was aware of any faults with the car, he seemed a genuine person and had the car since new and did not seem the type of person to fiddle with the car, judging from the copious amounts of paperwork and history I think he would have got the problem fixed or at least told me about it. i suspect the back street garage . many thanks again

I have been following this thread with great interest as I have the same problem as the OP. However having done the dash test and removed the IPK I found the seals on the IPK still in place and having split the IPK I have found nothing covering the LEDs.
However the dash test showed me that not only was the airbag light not illuminating when it should but also the seat belt light on the dash doesn't light up.

Airbag and seatbelt lights are beside each other at bottom right of the dash.

Picture of dash test below showing neither airbag or seat belt light illuminated.

Any ideas? Can't get the car mot'd until I get this sorted.

A friend of a friend mentioned something about the seat belt tensioner??

Thx

Paul

seat belt light is not enabled on UK spec cars unless the pre tension tensioner has been changed

You are missing the red air bag light
