Default MPG and running rich

Hi all,

My MG ZT V6, passed the mot on wednesday, well happy,

Only problem i have now though, is the car is running rich, and my mpg is low,
after a 75 mile round trip yesterday the car is running at 23 mpg at 65 mph,

I know the car has been sat a while, but thought it would sort the computer issues out on a run,

Anyone got some insight on anything that could cause rich running on the V6.

Thanks in advance

Would it not have failed on the emissions on the MOT if it was running rich!

I had the battery off mine for a week or so whilst I tackled the welding jobs.
prior to that the MPG was showing a constant 28 MPG regardless of driving conditions. Since completing the jobs & installing a new battery the MPG has never gone above 19.3mpg and she runs as sweet as a nut.

Hi.
The emission test would normally show up over fuelling.
A couple of things though come to mind, is the air filter partially choked and could the shannon tube be clogging the intake?
If the mixture was so rich the Lambda sensors should be adjusting the mixture and if not surely the management light would be on.

Took the car down to jiu jitsu today,
My fan was running with the engine off, thought it a bit strange,
Started her up and she ran very rough, hunting between the revs,
The EML came on with two codes,

P0112, Engine coolant temperature sensor 1 Circuit High

P0172 System Too Rich, Bank 1 and Bank 2.

Coolant sensor has chucked it! It lives in the V and may be damaged by a leaking thermostat. The sensor when open circuit or disconnected will give all the symptoms you are getting including the running fan.

Looks like i'll be spending more money,

Oh well, i love the car why not

I'm hoping i can remove it without taking everything apart,

Any ideas on the P0172 code?

Am I right in saying there is only one coolant sensor?
