Thanks Brian, I have just downloaded the original eeprom from my lowline IPK. I still only have a pickit programmer but have found that by connecting the write enable pin 6 to vcc and protection enable pin 7 to ground I can get reliable results off board. I'm going to give in circuit programming a go now on the message centre IPK.

Try changing 00000050 offset 0C from 14 to FC and see what happens Geoff

Brian is correct with the location on a pickit dump, the values for this location on a message centre display are...

0x54 for no Traction or Cruise
0xFC for Traction Control
0xD8 for Traction and Cruise

Are the preceding digits related to ZCS (type / engine / trans)?

NO, i said 0x84 to 0x88, NOT 0x85 to 0x89

No, the preceding bytes tell me its a V8 IPK YAC005090, now work out how that is done and in future virginise your IPK's with the correct part number so that i know from looking if they will support the PDC sounder or not

VIN number BTW is 4D000230

Thank you for the education,

A virgin program I have for V8 has a lot more lines than this and when I flashed it to a 7k IPK which was meant to be from a low mileage V8 then both displays went blank ??

If this 16 line program has V8 id bits in it (it is the original from the ipk) any idea why this is happening?
The virgin.Bin I am trying to use was copied from a BNIB MC V8 ipk...

No matter what, all the IPK's have the same size eeprom, if your file has more lines, then its either in the wrong format or corrupted.
