Default Prepping the paintwork for the winter months ahead

Cracked open the Collinite yesterday and spent most of yesterday and this morning getting a good layer of protection on the paintwork in readiness for the coming winter months.

Started with the usual snowfoam and 2 bucket wash, then followed with 2 coats on Collinite 476S:

This mornings task was to remove each wheel, and give them a good wash before applying 2 coats of Collinite, front and back. Wheel arches and calipers were also cleaned at the same time. I do this every 4 weeks just to stay on top of things.

Final part was applying a couple of coats of (you guessed!) Collinite to the door jams, hinges etc.

Engine bay will get similar treatment in the next few days, and then the interior. The underside was treated by Rustmaster some years back and is still holding up well. It gets a good blast with the jet wash time I clean her and the monthly "wheels off" session provides a good opportunity to check all is well.

It might seem a little OTT, but she is used daily in all weathers, and a good layer of protection this time of year makes the winter wash sessions so much easier. Now looking forward to some beer and pizza tonight.

Cliff

Default Best ever car wash at home?

Without doubt, that is the best car washing session at home I've ever seen - most definitely puts some of my local valet men to shame!

I must assume you've done this for a living at some point, as you're attention to detail is amazingly acute -the "Inside of the wheels" is bordering on show-pony quality -not for the winter months! I doubt many of us fastidious owners could beat that at home-match it probably( ...and Rick-Sta probably could!)

-I love washing, pampering and polishing my car properly -2-bucket wash, decent polish etc -but seeing your effort today -well mate, you've taken it to the next level!

I wish I had the time to do this with mine. Your car looks STUNNING! I've never heard of Collinite before. It sounds like an explosive! Do you just wash the car and apply like a polish, or do you have to polish then use it?

It's a wax, Collinite 476S I think is the stuff Cliff uses. Applied after all polishing and cleaning has been completed

That's the stuff. £27 or so for a big tin that will last for years, so quite cheap in the long run. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index....&productId=451

DONE: HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT I HAD TO GET RID OF MY MG ZTT DUE TO NOT HAVING A DRIVE AND HAVING TO PARK ON A BUSY STREET WITH A VIEW TO GETTING ANOTHER ONE AT A LATER DATE WHEN I HAVE A DRIVE.

ENDED UP REALISING IT REALLY ISN'T PRACTICAL NOT HAVING A CAR TO GET AROUND AND I NOW OWN A VW EOS 3.2 V6 INDIVIDUAL (1 OF 20 REMAINING IN THE UK WITH THAT ENGINE AND TRIM COMBO) EVEN THOUGH I STILL LIVE ON A BUSY ROAD WITHOUT A DRIVE
