If there is air blowing out of both sides when the fan is on then presumably the flaps are open. If one side is blowing cold when it should be hot that is usually diagnosed on the forum as a matrix blockage.
You can also run on-board checks to see if any faults show up per this http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...hread.php?t=46 |

I also browse the Jaguar forum and similar problems have been reported with heater matrixes silting up. But where does the silt come from, that is the question ? Is it from use of hard water when mixing up the coolant ?

Further to my last post, I seem to remember the use of a citric acid mix to clear out heater matrixes. Don't worry, citric acid is commonly found in lemonade and other fizzy drinks, so is not dangerous !! The citric acid goes for the lime scale and dissolves it.

I have since done an internet search and it appears the kettle descalers one can buy in Tesco and elsewhere are all solutions of citric acid. I would think these should do the job, although 2 might be necessary for bad clagging. Trouble is you can't see inside the matrix like you can the inside of a kettle ! Maybe someone has already tried these cures ?

got my car back this evening and as suspected the matrix was blocked.
mine was furred up and blocked by limescale!!! (see your kettle for details!!_) the garage told me that the motors for the flaps very rarely go wrong. a word of warning though new heater matrix's are not available at the moment!!!! |
