Yellow engine light on

Morning everyone, just wondering what to do next started the V8 up this morning and the yellow engine light came on straight away. There are no obvious signs of anything wrong and it seems to be running ok. The light is not flashing just stuck on all the time. Not sure what to do next as its not everyone who can help out with these engines.

It's quite common if a tiny miss fire happens on start up. As above get a code reader to find out what it is. I use nexpeak scan tool full OBD 2 reader as thats a good one for zt 260s. Some cheap ones won't communicate with the system but that one does

Cheers guys for those replies. Only other option i suppose is to try someone round here where i live to take a look at it, not exactly familiar cars though are they to most garages. With the code reader though wouldnt it just give me messages that i probably wont understand anyway?

Would a T4 talk to it all do you know?

V8s can be very iffy with a T4, I think mine objects to the invasion of privacy Last time it took numerous attempts before it would actually speak to the T4. First time it was connected it had a major hissy fit and Russ had to contact Brian to help sort things out.

As Jeff says if you can get the code you will be able to determine what the problem may. Do you have an obd2 or know someone who has one you could try?
I bought a cheap Autel autolink AL319 obd for under £30 and it spoke to my car(not literally). I figured it was worth the risk as not all obd will speak to the v8 and it was cheaper than going to a garage for them to charge a diagnostic fee of £50 plus and the obd2 would be useful for many cars if required.
Once you get the code which is all you want its your starting point.
Obviously disconnecting the battery ,leave it 15 mins and reconnecting will delete the light but not necessarily the fault and if the fault still exists it will reappear after a short while.
The problem may be an easy fix but as i mentioned before you have 2 specialists Austin Garages near to you and Retro Sports (Chris Flannigan) in Brighouse who is brilliant and gives good advice.
