Default Rotary Coupler (Clock Spring)

Are there different versions of the rotary coupler, depending on the spec of the car as it left the factory?

For example, if a car didn’t have cruise control, would the rotary coupler be the same as a car that did?

my car did not have cruise and at the steering wheel I think I only changed the radio controls, as they are part of the same harness as the cruise control

Yes coupler is the same. Not all pins are used but all are present. A cruise retrofit can be done without changing the coupler.

Thanks Lee.

I think I've managed to rule out a fault with my coupler, but it's useful to know.

If it's the radio controls misbehaving, it's usually the IR out of place in the eyebrow. I solved that with blutac.

Can you elaborate on that please?

My radio controls haven’t worked since I had the console out, about 18 months ago, although it’s actually the cruise control that has just stopped working. I’ve got a separate thread running for the cruise control problem.

On certain radio's there's a small infra red eye installed inside the eyebrow above the radio which controls the radio. If it gets blocked or dislodged, the steering controls won't work
