Gotta love Eastern Europeans....
They run one of the best car washes around here and managed to get my car looking like this in about 10 mins!
To be fair probably also helped by the marathon cleaning session Tam did on it before taking it to a Scottish meet. As soon as it stops raining for more then a day I'll break out the wax.

Indeed, cheaper then a lot of scratch-o-matic machines these days! I've used quite a few hand carwash places now and so far have not had a bad result, just hope that they're not simply a passing fad!

Back in Bristol my local car wash was run by Palestinians; a great bunch of guys and they did a cracking job. Sometimes there was even free Baklava in the waiting room.

I'm sure they do the job as well as can be expected but basically I wouldn't let anyone clean my car but me. I won't even let the wife or the kids do it. I just don't trust anyone else to do the job correctly to my standards. And to anyone who says "how on earth can someone clean a car incorrectly?', give me half an hour of your time and I'll bore you senseless with an in-depth explanation of the the various ways, but chiefly it's about using inappropriate or dirty/contaminated materials along with poor or careless techniques.

Well thanks to 2 businesses, a 3 year old and a 6 year old my choices are pretty much the eastern Europeans or a scary machine with swirly brushes! That said as soon as I have an afternoon free I will break out the polish and give it a good going over.

I have had good and bad experiences with these.
Firstly, I have found a really good place nearby, which I used as a one off as I normally clean my own cars. I was that impressed with them that I recommend them to all my friends and family. I paid £15 for it though, and for that they did the inside and outside, polished the wheels, went round the inside with detailing brushes etc and it looked like a new car when they had finished. Took them about 45minutes. Not bad for 15 quid. My bad experience was a few weeks back when we had that Sahara rain, where every bodies cars got covered in sand. I took the other car to a different hand car wash place, and they gave it a quick ore wash, then attacked it with soapy water and mitts. You could see the sand still in the suds as it ran down the windscreen. Obviously didn't pre wash it well enough. Not impressed with them. Won't be going to that one again
