Default Press car

Here are a few photos I have taken of LJW featured in some of the auto magazines when the 75 was first launched. What Car magazine changed the S reg to a T reg for the front cover of their March 1999 edition and inside back to the S reg. Auto Car did a 14 page special report for the launch. I have not worked out yet how I can share this with the membership.

All of the magazines gave the 75 mixed reviews and placed it in competition against the BMW and in another rag it was compared with the Alpha and Beemer. I won't say anymore as I would not want to spoil your readings

I was lucky to get the magazines as they came in a package with the car when I bought it from Rabett Rover plus a DVD 5th Gear film of LJW running against the 24 valve Vectra and Mondeo. That clip can be seen on YouTube.

I am glad I have been of some help Bob. Enjoy

Thanks Gate Keeper.

I always take these reviews by motorist journalists, whilst they are wearing their "Emperor's New Clothes" with a large pinch of salt anyway.

I have also watched the 5th Gear programme up against the Mondeo and Vectra, and they seemed to not compare like with like on basics such as the same engine capacity.
They also failed to assess important benchmarks such as comfort and ride quality too.

Clarkson reneged on his earlier positive comments re R75 and the british motor manafacturers in general, he and his two associates have allowed themselves to be treated as buffoons in their lust for danegeld !!! and shame on BBC for continuing this valueless trash

Quite interesting to see Clarkson's positive review at the time of the lauch of the Rover 75 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHNsqrxKZLo

Talk about being two faced, but I suppose it was later felt that there was more money to be made by fronting a comedy show, at the expense of everything else.
