All in all, not a bad day
First chance today to have a poke around the car and do a few odd jobs.
First up was the plenum drains. Mine were all reasonably clear, but I did give them a quick "rod and wash" just to be on the safe side. Checked the pollen filter and was gobsmacked to find how dirty it was..... Then moved onto the bonnet cable. Like most others mine was upside down, so I dismantled and cleaned it and too the opportunity to oil all three cables Having done that , I noticed that the bonnet switch boot was loose Took it off to discover that the base of it was half broken off Took the switch out to discover horror of horrors.... As well as a new switch, it would appear that I'll need a new plug as well. I'm assuming that it will be a breakers job as it's part of the main loom. Other then that, gave it a quick clean......

I wouldn't mind, but it should have been changed at the last service, before I bought it !!!!!!

Bonnet switch
hi GREENERS, did you just lever the switch out. Im still having trouble with my alarm going off due to the bonnet switch, i hope.Warning light on dash coming on most of the time, except when i go round a sharp right hand corner. I think there is water in the switch as the problem first started after i gave her a good wash.

No, Ive put it all back together with a fair bit of tape to hold it together. The switch (YUE100610), is a very reasonable £9.00, but it's the plug that I need.....

Well Greeners, read this at work today and thought......I'll give it a bash.
My filter looks like it's been in there since new! Had a little puddle, (even though I rodded it about 2 weeks ago!) Was going to do the "spyhole" mod but then thought it was even easier putting it on the ramps every week and poking it from underneath! So thanks for the reminder!, and now e-bay for a filter!!!! |
