Default Petrol v Diesel?

ive just been trawling through the forum, and there seems to be more diesel owners with problems than petrol owners? methinks that maybe the petrol r75 is more reliable than any of the diesels

Blasphemy!

Having had 3 diesels and a V6 - the diesels (bar one which was miss sold) have been better!

They have their niggles for sure, but no expensive belts, inlet manifolds or HGF's to even consider, and no need to check your coolant on a daily basis!

For reliability it has to be the v6 and dare i say it the diesel. The v8 is unknown to me.
The v6 has niggles with the thermostat and vis motors but are very reliable the diesel has its fair share and i for one would never have a diesel 75. Only a 2.5 v6 or a v8 will do

there is a lot you have got to bare in mind some of which is

1 people only usually post here when they have problems.

2 what percentage of diesels vs petrols were sold.

it's been my experience that there seems to be a wider virety of things that go wrong with petrols and they do tend to be more serious especially in the 1.8's beacuse of turbo's and HGFVs the V6 ECT but the diesels have there fair share and generally all seem to be the same problems in most cases.

Pot luck, service history means nothing IMO, especially when cars go above 80/90k miles, its so easy to fake a boot and some receipts from ebay its shocking.

IMO, id love a diesel BUT for my miles atm petrol is fine. Plus you can not beat that feeling of passing a boy racer in his Saxo bodykit special in 2nd gear with the V6 at full chat.

Run for cover indeed!!

I have suffered the starting issue... but £120.00 & 2 injectors later I have not had an issue since

I have not had to check the coolant either

Runs to take cover with Chrissyboy!!
