Another (quick) timing belt question........
How easy is it to get enough access to inspect it? Also......
I think I've read on here - and was told by the local expert on timing belts - that it is unheard of for the rear belts to break. Is this true? My (free) V6 is now on 80k miles and 16 years and on the original belt. As it owes me nothing (other than a day's labour to do the thermostat) I'm torn between driving it until it dies or getting the front belt done. Ideally I'd like to have a look at it and see its condition first. Garage's advice was to do the front one, but not bother with the rear ones. Its a fabulous car, but I also have a Diesel that is a lot more practical, l so this one is really an unnecessary indulgence. OK, so that was two questions. Sorry, not quite as quick as I intended. If you like the car get the lot done including the water pump, tensioner and rear belts! You will then be able to relax and not worry if anything is about to let go.The belts will be good for at least another 80,000 miles after that!

I think at that age if you want to keep the car then have them changed. Although having said that in the 8 years I've been here i can only think of two belts having gone on V6.
