Hi All, Just joined.
I have 75 conn/seur SE AUTO 2.0 CDI SATNAV / TV, new 2001. now 65000 miles .best car ive had but now got problems with GPS.
Just had MOT and service and now cant get GPS.
Garage states they have not disconected battery, but signs of wet in spare wheel area.(i have had hot air blower on units & wiring 6 hours but no difference)
Radio/tapes still work fine.
At switch on MENU shows.trip comp.Tele.Settings.screen off.
L/H knob moves curser & selects OK.
when in settings, press & hold MENU button,Service mode shows
Screen shows on board monitor & Video Module.
If knob is pressed on selecting either, data shows.
Select return and press menu button which returns to Menu screen.

What ever i do cant get GPS.
Ive cleaned the disc. (original 2001)
Any help would be much appreciated.

Albert

Check the navigation computer in the boot too. IS there a red light on it?

If not then the unit has a fault or there may be water ingress to the connectors at the back.

Pull the CD unit out and take a look, is there any sign of water staining to the metal casing?

Yes, that's correct. no sat nav option on the display. There is a red light on the cd unit. Also the cd intermittantly ejects and re loads it's self automatically. I've checked the cd and its clean with no visible marks.

sounds like one of two things.1st being are the plugs fully inserted into the unit?the black horse shoe shaped levers have to be in the fully down ie flat b4 pushing the pulgs fully home.the levers are in fact only there to ease removal i only says this as i connected mine up with the levers half way up the plugs go in but not fully.the other thing if after trying this is a loose kbus wire which is the red and white wire with horizontal yellow stripes on the black plug

Good so the unit hasn't been fried. I would open the boot, wait for the CD unit LED to go out (should take 45 secs to a min), then remove the CD Nav unit using standard radio release removal tools, disconnect the blue and pink multipin connectors along with the small antenna plug if it's a mark III, and take it inside to warm / dry out.

Have a close look at the pins and the now dangling connectors in the car to make sure there is no contamination which would make for a poor connection.

Then refit and retry.

If that all fails to help, do the same with the connections to the video module (the silver unit on the left in the spare wheel well).

Once you have confirmed that all connectors are clean and secure, the only problem could be that the nav computer itself has somehow become damaged internally and will need replacing.

Hi Reebs/ Sufolkboy,
Thanks for info.Ive checked all 3 units & no signs of water staining or corrosion
all look in new condition. checked plugs all look ok.
Satnav switches on / off red lamp ok when doors open close.
When in settings & menu pressed on board monitor version shows
SW level 42 HW " 44 Diag " 11 Bus index 09 Encoding index 00
Supplier 17 Also video module shows SW 06 HW 05 DIAG 00
BUS 10 Encoding 00

The forum mentions a T4 test? would this identify the fault ? if f so who can do it Sheffield area?. If ineed a new computer what should I get & from where.
MANY THANKS, WITH BEST WISHES FOR 2012, REGARDS

Nearest T4 I know of to you is BigRuss in West Yorks - 5 mins out of Brighouse or Birstall - about 40 mins from you.

He knows these cars inside out - send him a PM. Should be seeing him myself some time this week to get the T4 on mine.

Chris
