Door mirror help
Hi all, some scrotum yesterday decided my passenger door mirror looked better off all over the road then kindly drove off without a murmur. ******!
I'm after some help. I attach a couple of photos to show the problem. What do I need to do in order to make good? Do I need the whole fixture or just the mirror? Does it just attach to the existing mount that's left on? It's tempest grey and is the shape of the one shown! Would anyone happen to have a spare I could buy?? Many thanks for your advice/assistance in advance.

The images are not visible. Looking at the year of you car it will have the later Skull Cap style mirror. These mirrors are very delicate where the body meets the housing. It can be repaired in this area with a nut and bolt.
The other option is to get a good second hand mirror and change over your colour coded cap. A post in the items wanted section will help. |

Thanks Pab. The images are visible when I view the post? Can't understand that?
There's actually nothing left of the existing mirror so swapping the cap is not possible. I'll post in the wanted as you suggest anyway, thank you.

My nearside door mirror is a bit dodgy, so I'll post here.
A previous owner of my 75 obviously had a problem with the mirror and did a botch up job with some silicone between the mirror housing and the base. I only noticed this yesterday when I brushed past the mirror and it fell off ... not completely ... the mirror housing will still sit on the base but there it's not a secure fit and I reckon a vigorous bounce on one of Oxfordshire's speed bumps or potholes will see the mirror pop out again with possibly more dramatic results. Is there any tip for repairing the fit or do I have to find a new housing? The rest of the mirror - wiring and glass - seems to be OK.

I take it you have the later Skull Cap design mirrors. The housing and body is plastic?
If so remove the mirror glass and put a nut and bolt between the mirror body and the housing where they connect. The other alternative is to ask on here in the items wanted section for a replacement mirror. |

I used a similar method to this - t http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=66865 A long bolt and nut, two over sized washers, with a notch cut out for the wires to pass down the side of the washers, and the washers trimmed to allow the mirror to power fold. I actually made the washers from some scrap galv. steel, with the top one hammered into a slight dome down, so as to centre itself as it was tightened.
