last week or so the gearchange on my ZT 135 has become really loose, feels very vague when you select a gear and when in gear the stick can be moved side to side with ease....any ideas??? |

Check out the linkages on top of the gearbox.

Slack in Gearstick
Although the gear change is positive, when in gear there is some left/right slack in the gearstick (up/down or front/back - there is no movement). Is this usual for the CDTi 80k miles (they all do that mate !), or if anyone could check theirs it would be appreciated... or does it need looking at ??
kind regards Royster |

Slack gearstick
Can I just bump this one guys, before getting under the car
I'm getting about 8mm (1/3rd inch) left / right movement at the top of gearstick - while in gear. This is with the engine off or running Is this normal ? I'm hoping it is, as I don't want to go looking for a problem when there isn't one. thanks all Royster |

sounds like your gear change cables are on the way out
if you lift the bonnet ,get a torch and look under the battery carrier and you will see the rear of the gear box ,you will notice x 2 cables wire ropes going to the gear box ,check the rubber circles if they are showing signs of wear they are goosed one off my rubbers was shot a few weeks ago and i had a night mare getting home i did do a temp repair to keep me on the road till cozie dunc replaced the cables for me thank gawd dunc is nearish to me just my thots on what you can look for Thanks Rab |

Thanks RabI'll have a look at the cables during the week. It's just strange that the gear selection is still good !
