1.8ZT Turbo 53....help...desperate!!
Any help greatfully received!
I recently had my ZT back from the garage after having the head gasket/HT leads/cambelt-timing belt replaced. After 1 week I have noticed the car is still getting hot, and the coolant level in the reservoir has dropped so that I cant even see it. It is also mis-firing slightly now from cold. The garage I took it to (previously Rover, now Hyundai) have taken another look at it and are saying that there is still water in the oil and vice versa. What they CANT (wont?) tell me, is what the problem is until they have stripped it down. They have said that the spark plug in cylinder 3 is very clean suggesting water in the cylinder? They are saying that the worst case scenario is a cracked engine block, but doesnt it have to be running VERY hot for a long period to do this sort of damage? When I first noticed the original problem of a slight overheating, I stopped the car and havent driven i since, so its not as if Ive been thrapping it around with no coolant. Would anyone know of any type of pressure test for example, that could pinpoint the leak? or any ideas of what the problem could be? Im so disappointed as Ive wanted one of these cars for a long time now, and when I finally get one, it breaks within 6 months! Im reluctant to throw money at it if its a lost cause. Many thanks members, would anyone have any good news for me?!! |
