Default Retrofitting Rover Parking Sensors

I've purchased a complete set of rover parking sensors plus ECU, sounder and cables from the same guy who is selling this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180285883297

If I drill the holes and connect it up will it just work or do I need to get on a T4 to tell the car it now has it?

Also the paint on one of the sensors looks a but rough. As i will be painting them anyhow is there anything wrong with lightly rubbing it down or will that affect the sensor performance.

I'm not worried about drilling the holes and getting under the parcel shelf is a doddle (Just fitted the electric rear blind).

Just wondered if I need a T4

There is an item for PDC in the T4 menus (as pictured in posts here). It's been reported the system should work without it, but it can be helpful in diagnosing faults.

Search and read previous threads for retrofits. One member had problems and discovered there were two different control units.

Yeah I've been reading the previous threads but obviously have not gone far enough back.

I'll keep searching. Last thing I want to do is install it and not have it working.

Mine worked OK without a testbook session. In fact I had it working in the kitchen before I fitted, so it didn't even need a car, let alone a testbook.

I've retro fitted one, and it' doesn't require a T4 session.

Just make sure you get the sensors in teh correct position, as each holder is different. If you look carefully it's got a small round lug (ISTR is 2 or 3mm) which you need to drill once you've drilled the main hole.

Thanks.

I'll try and remember to take pictures throughout the process and post here. I need to get hold of a matched paint first as they are currently blue and my cars Green. I tried halfords but it was way to dark.

I think the sensors need a light sanding as it looks like some of the paint has bubbled slightly one one of them.

I was about to start installing the parking sensors. I thought it would be prudent to test the unit prior to installing. I finally managed to get the lead to the speaker into the boot and wire everything up pointing the sensors out of the open boot. (nothing in the way to cause the sensors to think I was near anything.

When I set the car into reverse I get a continious tone from the sounder unit. I have disconnected it and can hear ticking from each of the sensors so I'm assuming that the wiring to each one is working fully.

Anyone got any ideas what would cause the continious tone?
