Default Ipk

I can confirm that it is possible to drive without the IPK, because I did so for several weeks when Cluster Repairs had mine for an unsuccessful attempt to repair. I used my Sat Nav to provide indication of speed, though i do not know if I was legal. Note also that you will also be without a fuel gauge! The other drawback is that the mileage you cover when the IPK is removed will not be recorded when the IPK is re-installed.

It is illegal to drive without a calibrated indication of speed, the cars mileage is also recorded in several places and removing the IPK and driving more than 80 km iirc will see the syncro of these go out and return. Err on the trip meter...

The IPK is also the communications nexus for the K and comms buses so imho the car should never be driven without the IPK in place....

Default another bad one repaired

Had another bad IPK arrive to day all the way from Spain. Turned this one on and thought oh god don't think this one will be repairable, but surprisingly all the lines have gone

ah yes that was the engine management light led. no idea what they tried to do but had a really thin wire soldiered onto it, and melted the plastic surround in the process.

Have had a few now where either the ABS light or the airbag warning light was covered up without the current owner knowing about it. I always check for any covered up or non-working warning lights when taking any instrument clusters apart

Can anyone repair the lines in my IPK near West Yorkshire. Will drive down to Rick-Sta if necessary but it is a hell of a long drive.
