That'll be Michael caine in the (original) Italian Job.

The james Cagney quote was from 'White Heat' , one of my all time fav films from 1949, in which Cagney plays Arther Jarrett ('Cody').

Ah - but there was a sequel I believe, to In the heat of the Night. Produced early seventies I think. Maybe he didn't actually say those words in it though.
