Default Interest in 19" Vortex Wheel development

I wanted to gauge a bit of interest to see if this is a possibility to get off the ground.

Over at the 260's we are at the early stages of looking into the production of 19" Vortex Alloy wheels. We have a manufacturer who produces the OEM BMW wheels for the 5 series and have got some idea of costs. I know that these were the "show" wheels on the Geneva 75 V8 that were not used due to quality and fouling but of course these will be the correct size to fit the car. Quite a few run 19's on here and this is the way to get the most desirable wheel in 19's on the car

Of course with these things it is the tooling cost that is the big issue. We would need people to commit to approx 40 sets of 4 to make it viable with a approx cost of £150 each wheel. The material is A356.2 T6. The T6 is the heat treatment done to them to make sure the aluminium grain structure is correct. They are then pressure tested machined and balanced, painted, dressed and sealed. They are made by gravity die casting.

Now there is nearly no margin at that price and of course when you start to add tyres it makes the outlay for an individual to approx £1000 for 4 so that is why we wanted to see what people thought. Another advantage is that a crappy set of Vortex wheels could be £400 plus then refurb on top.

Anyway there is no commitment I just wanted to gauge opinion on here before we went further and opened it up.

I'd be interested if funds allowed at the time. Great looking wheels on both 75 and ZT variants.

Thought there would have been a lot more interest in these.

I tried for 18 inch version last year, zero interest.

You would likely get the interest if they where half the price, but sure.

We did not get enough interest. We have parked it for awhile but might come back to it as we did most of the ground work to get it sorted.

As well as some 260 specific items (undertrays etc) we are focusing on the Rear tourer lights and also we are looking at producing some new better quality leather seat covers particularly for the sports seats that the bolsters go. So we have removed some and getting quotes to get new ones made in black and some other more interesting colour combinations.

Oh yes

Very interested in this . Where will you be advertising the leather seat covers and will be for a full set?

I know you've said you've parked this, and I'm somewhat late to the conversation, but I'd definitely be interested in 19" Vortex wheels. They looked so great on the show car, especially alongside the V8 grille...

If you ever decide to go ahead with them I'd buy a set
