National Club Meet for the 25th Anniversary of the Rover 75 Gaydon 14th April 2024

Really good day, and photo’s fantastic. Wish I had done more walking around looking at our cars. Noticed one with the reg number, SU on the plate. Germany Seigburg. Would have liked to have had a natter to the driver because my son lives in Troisdorf which shares the same prefix SU.
We went to listen to the talk given by the ex managers of Rover, but we were late arriving , and unfortunately had to leave because we could not hear what was being said by the speakers properly. Perhaps they could have had a mike to speak into for the hard of hearing, not me, but two of my friends are. All in all, a good show by owners of Rover/MG cars, and the weather was kind to us also. Nice to meet some old acquaintance’s, Ched and Karen, the right Rev Jules and the young lady he was with, Roll on the next show.

Due to a family problem I had to miss this event at the last moment, but the excellent photos are a great substitute. Just sorry I missed catching up with everyone, but hope that can be rectified during the year.

Yes I enjoyed the day too. Well done to those who organised it and thank you to those on the panel.
I particularly appreciated hearing about the use of 3D modelling and savings it enabled. Also the teamwork within the team that developed the car and how they were able to carry over learning from the 600 series to the 75. The result is obvious in the cars that we all enjoy.
It was a very worthwhile day and I look forward to the next one!

That's a fair point David but speaking to the not insignificant audience of enthusiasts is quite a skill and can be daunting. Peter Morgan, Project Director and Denis Chick, Communications Director were obviously practised in this due to their job titles and I had no difficulty hearing them. Richard Woolley was very softly spoken wasn't he along with Mike Kinnear. I was sitting in row 3 and was struggling.

Unfortunately having a P.A. system brings with it a whole host of problems and can detract from the informal nature of the event which I think it was good to preserve.

Many thanks to those that did the organising of the event; photographers who have posted their "happy snaps" and especially to those in the draughty R75 gazibo (is that how to spell it?). I didnt know what to expect as far as cars that turned up. Mine is "on the up" from a long way down and hope it improves as dents, chips and scratches, laquer finsh peeling get sorted (as well as cills, sun roff etc) and to see other folks efforts was an encouragement. All the best.

Many, many thanks to Reebs and Pete and all of you yesterday for a brilliant and very full day out!

It was great to say hello to friends old and new, admire the astonishing care lavished into so many of your 'pride and joys' . I realise there were several of you I failed to say hello to, unfortunately, including Trikey.

The presentations by former Rover Royalty were so interesting. They gave a fascinating insight into our cars' development and the passion and commitment they shared for the model's quality and style.

It was a revelation to learn at first hand something of the whys and wherefores of the fracture with BMW - it seems even they don't know the full story of the relationship between the Quandt family owners and their senior management.

We do know that Mini has been a huge success at Cowley - but were left with the huge sadness that if a similar effort had been put into building a full line-up of Rover cars, the sad demise and huge loss of jobs a few years later at Longbridge could have been avoided.

In addition, the museum itself is quite extraordinary - well worth a full day out in its own right - particular highlights for me as they touched on my own childhood memories, were the very first Mini - a white Austin Seven and a Mark 2 Ford Zodiac.

The 1907 Rover, resplendent with huge brass headlamps was a reminder of the extraordinary early history of our marque.

Thanks, it needs some more work yet through. There's probably a days worth of work for the dent removal specialist! Plus an annoying belt/pulley squeal when cold.

Yours didn't look scruffy to me! It was nice to see three 75s sharing the same small car park

I would just like to record my appreciation to all the organising committee for a really good day at this year's national meet, the icing on the cake was to sit in the conference room in front of the assembled "Rover Royalty" and imerse oneself on all the great factual information concerning our cars design and Build, I could have sat for another couple of hours at least such was the interest that was generated from these Guys, I wouldn't have missed it for anything, if fact as times I found it quite emotional!

Richard Woolley even chatted to several members on the way out back to his car much to the joy of the members, even after all these years Richards enthusiasm for the car he was instrumental in designing is still evident.
