Default May I suggest that Simondi you have overstepped the mark

The Social Forum is for - and I quote

"Post here on anything and everything (within reason!)"

There is nothing "unreasonable" in the whole thread

May I formally request that MY thread be reopened.

Are you talking about the same JC as me? His prime claim to popularity is the offer of a "new kind of politics", but here we are seeing the same old "spin". What has happened to the "honesty" he promised?
Those of us that we're around in the 60's and 70's, know only too well that nationalisation won't provide more seats in trains, nor more hospital beds for that matter. These things need investment, and lack of investment was the prime argument for privatisation in the first place. He doesn't actually say where the extra cash will be raised, other than suggesting he will close tax loopholes, but while most of us would agree with that, he doesn't explain how he will achieve that, and even if he could, the amount raised would be minuscule. Again, from the past, we know that raising the tax rate for the very rich, brings in less money, because they simply switch their earnings to a more favourable tax regime.
I would consider myself to be a labour voter, but I could never vote for a party led by JC, and don't blame the biased press, its got nothing to do with bad publicity, it's just that I can see right through his rhetoric.
He will win the party leadership contest, he might even win a general election, but I will be very surprised if he is able to create the utopia that his supporters expect.

There are times when to argue right v. wrong is subjective, depending entirely on the mind-set and personal ideals of the observer and arriving at what might be called a 'partisan' view. In other words, a lack of objectivity leading to a superficial assessment of the subject. In many cases sincerely held and nonetheless valid for that.

In Corbyn's case there can be no such confusion or gloss. His record, both political and personal, is available at a moment's notice on line for those seeking a full and unbiased version of actual history. His well-documented and unqualified support for certain revolutionary foreign activists, his active (both in public and covert) for anarchists and subversives such as Militant Tendency, that Socialist Workers paradise at Haringey council and now the Momentum group should tell anyone who needs it all they need to know about his intentions and motivations. It's for each to take a view, hopefully after a relatively brief study of the real world.

His party colleagues in Westminster are horrified by his 'principles' that have precious little to do with 'honesty'. They believe to return to such outdated and failed dogmas would result in them all losing their seats at the next election - hence their antipathy.

By far the greatest threat to our democracy is the damage his continued presence does to the 'principle' of the necessity for a viable opposition to the government of the day. Sadly, his challenger for office is no better.

Gentlemen this is a forum for those who wish to discuss their cars seek help and generally enjoy the pleasure it brings them. It is not and never has been a political debating society there are many of those available to those members who wish to discuss the failings of others.
May I suggest they consider taking their debate to one of those so the rest of us may sleep peacefully☺
