Picking up our first caravan tomorrow.....very exciting!
We will be keeping it in secure storage, but I want to bring it home tomorrow to clean. As we live on a slight slope, is it ok to leave it hitched to the car, put the stabilisers down and the wheel at the front and work on the inside? If it's stable, is that ok? I don't want to put strain on the tow bar, but being on the street I need to keep it hitched. I would also need to do this when we are loading to go away. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks |

Yes, doing that is fine - so long as you keep in mind that those are called 'corner steadies', they are not intended to jack the caravan or the car up.
If we stop in a layby for a cuppa on route to where ever, just to stop it wobbling we drop the rear steadies down - but it is not essential for the caravan to lower them, it is just to make it a bit steadier for us. Your caravan can only legal to be on a public road whilst it is attached to the car, covered by your cars tax and insurance.
