EGR Bypass
I've just heard about new emission tests for diesels next year. I've got an EGR Bypass valve fitted. Could this cause an emissions failure on the new test? I haven't got the original EGR Valve. Might have to get one and replace it. Thanks

No, diesels are not subject to the full emission tests (HCO etc) and are only subject to a smoke test.

Yes, but the 75 is not fitted with a DPF, so the EGR removal does not affect the test. DPF's are the spawn of the devil, a poor attempt at trying to reduce soot emissions from diesels!

It's part of the EU emissions regulations, so most (if not all, I'm not too sure?) modern diesels will have one. It seems to be 06 onwards that they suddenly become popular.

Hi
Just to be clear....... Are we saying that a Rover 75 cdt (03) will pass the MOT test with the "cat" removed? Car will be tested in Northern Ireland - March 2014. Thanks |

Just had mine noted in NI,do not have a decat but do have egr bypass,no emission test just a visual test for smoke,in fact they did it as I drove into the building without even going behind the car.
