freelanderspecialist.com
anyone heard of or had dealings with these people ? their website is interesting but like with all rebuilders you dont know what you will get until you get it !! im still weighing up my options in my quest to find a low miles well serviced kv6 2.5 engine.they seem to offer a rebuild for the units that were the same as the kv6 rover 75. anyone used these people ?

The name of the company rang a little alarm bell in my head but this thread over on LandyZone clears up the confusion.
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rov.../#post-2720981 Basically there was an outfit with a similar name in nearby Kings Lynn who were about as trustworthy as George Mackmurdie of Knight Industries infamy. It seems though that the company you are looking at do have some recommendations so it looks okay to see if they can help you. |

BTW there are a couple of minor differences between the KV6 used in the Hippo and the 75. Oil filter was one I recall and I think the sump is deeper for the LR version.

yes i understand but im thinking more of the rebuild service that they offer for the kv6.so not a problem. its just that there are not many people that can do a decent rebuild around.not even on this website.that would last anyhow.lots try and succeed but long term durability is the goal but sadly too many spend loads of money only to find its been wasted further down the line. you need experience with these engines ... but that sadly comes at a premium cost as many have found out. thanks.

wow !!! you are a brave man.even my knees are trembleing ..... no seriously i sincerely hope all is ok. can i ask if your in for engine rebuild or transplant recon or gearbox ? this post will be of great importance to follow for all kv6 owners as we now find these engines hard to come across with a known history. can we ask you to report back on your findings its of much interest to me and probably many others. good luck.

Hi xsport, mine is in for an engine rebuild (finally had to admit one or both head gaskets have given up the struggle) I chose them after I had a chat with them and read the reviews. And they are less than 20 miles away! I have yet to find out what the (expensive) problem is so I will certainly keep everyone posted. Wish me luck!
