Perhaps if you have one its the fuel burning heater.

You wern't sat behind on in traffic were you? Very strange for a petrol to smell of diesel lol. Is it only when you're driving, or does it happen when you're stationary, but with the engine running?

Are you sure they are exhaust fumes? Any diesel leaking around the injectors can be smelt once the engine warms up, so try removing the accoustic engine cover and see if you have any leaks.

If there is also a smell of diesel when you exit the car, could be a fuel leak, the fuel cooler behind the offside rear wheel is a common culprit for this.
