Leather seats. The best way to clean them ?.
Hi.
Ok i got my Rover 75 recently. And would like to give the leather seats a good clean. So whats the best cleaner to use, there the cream leather ones and i would like something to nourish the leather to stop them cracking. Any help would be great thanks. |

Thread moved to in car interior section.
And in answer Gliptone appears to be the members favourite as it is mine.

I have always used saddle soap on leather you can get from any tack or riding shop works a treat and if it's ok on a 3 grand saddle it's ok for car seats http://www.amazon.co.uk/GOLD-LABEL-S.../dp/B0033XGA32

I also use saddle soap, been using it for 30 years and am very happy with it.
I used it on my 1965 "S" type for almost 10 years and the seats were still in nice condition when I sold the car in 1980 ish... ... |

saddle soap isn't really right for car seats it is for saddles and designed to help maintain a saddle type leather not a soft upholstery luckily it shouldn't do too much harm on a 75 seat as it will be a sealed surface leather anyway (so the 'conditioner' doesn't sink in anyway as it has a thin plastic coating on it), I always clean seats with plain water or water and plain soap and use a soft shaving brush to get into the texture of the surface then use a leather cream to get a nice finish and sheen no need to buy anything fancy something for sofas from the supermarket will be fine

As above really , the leather is sealed on the 75 / Zt's so all that is needed is a little mild APC and water with a microfibre cloth.
